Tarot Card Meanings: Understanding The Minor Arcana and the Suit of Wands

There are entire books written on the various tarot card meanings. For our sake, I think it would be in our best interest to simplify as much as possible. I recommend this due to the timely nature of online free tarot readings, or for that matter, in any free tarot card reading, where you are being charged on a minute by minute basis. As I mentioned before, be careful of those free tarot card readings! Typically, only the first five or ten minutes are free.

To fully understand the Suit of Wands and their tarot card meanings, we first need to begin with the Minor Arcana. In the tarot deck, the Minor Arcana are the cards that depict the four suites of the Tarot: Wands, Cups, Swords and Pentacles. In terms of their meanings, the Minor Arcana typically represent current situations that are going on in your day to day life. They can also represent the relationships and people in your life. Each suit is also connected to a specific aspects in your life including such things as work, emotions, finances or relationships. They also represent the four elements: earth, sky, water and fire.

Although many people believe that the Minor Arcana tarot cards are not as significant as the Major Arcana tarot cards, I tend to disagree. The Minor Arcane are incredibly powerful due to their ability to pinpoint specific details such as the who’s, how’s and what’s.

Another unique attribute of the Minor Arcana is there lack of any sense of permanence. If there are a number of suits in your spread, know that you can make changes, work through blocks, and understands where you are emotionally.

Now on to the Wands! In a tarot card reading, the Wands typically represent a call to action. The element is fire. Fire is associated with passion, creativity and spirituality. The Suit of Wands also is associated with the career.

I believe the Wands also signify a time for decision making. The Wands often indicate a need to look at your options, evaluate and then move forward with force. Should you pull the Wands in a card reading, bear in mind that although there is a great deal of potential, you also must be willing to make some sacrifices. That is why the suit always calls for a time of serious reflection before taking action.

Wand tarot card meanings also can include issues of sexuality and fertility. In a love tarot reading, the wands represent the sex drive, love intentions, and a call to action or initiation. However, they can also represent loss of interest, infidelity, and a low sex drive. These are powerful cards when associated with love tarot. They can offer tremendous insight into the nature of someone’s relationship or relationships to come.

Finally, don’t be afraid to ask if there are any Wands in your spread when you do your online free tarot reading. Should the tarot reader fail to know and understand the significance of the wands suit, hang up or disconnect.
